The East district administration will host a four-day adventure tourism festival in the city to instill the spirit of adventure among the youth. The festival, a first-of-its-kind in the city, will be held from February 29 to March 2 at Dimna lake and Sonari aerodrome. The event will host water sports, ground sports and aero sports.
To be held from 8am to 5pm on all three days, events include banana ride, wake boarding, water rolling, kayaking under the water sports category and climbing, rappelling, rope course and trekking at the Dimna hill trek. Meanwhile, para sailing and para motor events will be held at the Sonari aerodrome.
“The objective is to develop leadership qualities among the youth and make them physically and mentally strong to face future challenges in life,” deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla said. Besides youths from all walks of life, the event is open for high school students and NCC cadets, Shukla added.
The DC noted that the tourism department has partnered with the district administration for organizing the event. The participants will not have to pay an entry fee for taking part in the festival. “We have hired an agency for the smooth and successful hosting of all the events,” Shukla said, adding “Experts of the respective sporting events will be present there to conduct the events.”
